Taiwan is a Republic of China

The GMD (Pan-Blue Coalition) president was just re-elected today by a comfortable margin.

The Pan-Blue Coalition believes that they are a Republic of China. They hope for a re-unification of China but under a democratic government (AKA the GMD).

If you look at Taiwan’s ethnicity, 98% of Taiwan is Han, which is the main ethnicity of mainland China as well.

So it’d be great if white people that don’t know what they’re talking about stopped insisting that Taiwan wasn’t a part of China because their government doesn’t want them to be and because they have a separate ethnicity (“Taiwanese”)

It’d be great if people who didn’t know what they’re talking about stopped insisting that just because most of us are ethnically similar to our neighbors across the Taiwan Strait that we all automatically have the same lifestyles, the same beliefs, the same government, the same languages, and the same culture.  Nearly 6,100,000 of eligible voters in Taiwan showed us exactly that last night.

There’s so much people don’t know about our history, real Taiwanese history, because it’s been so distorted by the international media, by the international bias for whoever’s the richest or most intimidating, by the sheer greed of owners of big businesses and the upper classes, by the ones that just don’t know or just don’t get it.

Agreeing with the reply.

  7. wishonwyatt said: The main reason why Taiwan is usually considered a different country from China is that most of the world considers it as such. What you’re saying is similar to saying that North and South Korea are one country. They used to be, but aren’t anymore.
